WoW Macros: Smart aspect switch–Hunter Macro

I myself have some knowledge in basic coding, I do not claim to be a whizz at this stuff but I have the general understanding of what basic languages require and the structure of the context in which the functions are used.

So to make my life easier I wanted to make a quick macro to switch between two different hunter aspects. Simple you may think… this one is smart, it detects which aspect is already open and changes it to the other one… so

Smart Switch: Aspect of the Cheetah to Aspect of the Hawk and vice versa.

Basic Description: Detects which aspect is running (cheetah or hawk) and then changes to the one that is not active.
#Smart Aspect Switch by www.simplywarcraft.com
/run if Aspect of the Cheetah is true then
/cast Aspect of the Hawk
/end
/run if Aspect of the Hawk is true then
/cast Aspect of the Cheetah
/end
Not bad for a girl! (Must not be re-distributed on any other website thanks)
Please view my video below to see it working.

Druid Staff

I personally only have a Night Elf Hunter character and while in Stormwind I noticed another player shape shifted into a fiery lion. Even after several years of playing the game I have never come across this before. So after research I discovered that this player must have been successful in obtaining the “Druid Staff” from the PvP arenas to be able to do this.
Master Shapeshifter
I really love the look and general appeal of the Fire cat Druid Staff and from what I have witnessed while playing World of Warcraft – very few players seem to get this rare epic item.

Spotlight Mount: Winged Guardian

I have been away from World of Warcraft for a couple of months and after playing again I spotted some players riding fabulous lion like mounts which have flames coming from them. After inspecting the characters I came to realise that the mounts in question were called the Winged Guardian.
After further investigation I soon realised that Blizzard had recently released this purchase only mount at the Blizzard Store.
Now I would really like one of these gorgeous mounts in the future and hopefully my character will be blessed with the ownership of a Winged Guardian.
Winged Guardian
Personally I have seen no other mount like the Winged Guardian. Its head is of a lion with a fiery mane, tail and feet. Whilst having wings of a bird with a flowing and glowing aura about them leaving luscious trails of light behind them.
Winged GuardianI strongly recommend the Winged Guardian mount if you would like to stand out in a crowd and get players saying “what a lovely mount” and “where did you get it”.
I personally find the Winged Guardian mount attractive as it looks epic! And will fly at the speed that your maximum flight skill will allow. So if you increase your flying speed, the mount will automatically increase for you!

Winged Guardian mount info from Blizzard Store EU:
“When you take to the skies astride a blazing, eagle-winged lion, your comrades will know you mean business.  Serious business.  So saddle up, because the Winged Guardian will travel as fast as your riding skill will take you.”

Mount: Spectral Steed

While wandering aimlessly through Stormwind I came across a player on a lovely Spectral Steed, its much alike the celestial steed however it is a ground mount and looks somewhat like a translucent glowing war horse of sorts.
After looking into this mount I realised that it can only be obtained from Quartermaster Brazie (Baradin’s Wardens Quatermaster) located in the Tol Barad Peninsula. Known as a PvP mount.

Alliance: Herbalism Guide – Complete herbalism in 2 days!

If you choose to follow this guide I can assure you that if you are level 85 it will only take you 2 days to level up your herbalism to 525 if you are willing to put the time and effort into it!
I have recently switched primary professions from Skinning to Herbalism. This is simply because there is more gold in it than skinning.
As I am starting herbalism from scratch I have decided to write this guide to help future herbalists on World of Warcraft.
I have split this up into two sections:
1. Alliance herbalism guide
2. When to meet your trainer

Step 1: Get herbalism profession

If you have not already got herbalism as a profession you need to start it. If you already have two professions you will have to unlearn one of them to start herbalism. You can do this by going to your “Spellbook and Abilities” then click on “Professions” Click on the red circle with a line through it to unlearn a profession.
Once you have less than two primary professions you can then visit a “Herbalism Trainer” to start learning herbalism.
Unlearn Profession

Step 2: Start Gathering | 1 - 70

The best place to start I have personally found for herbalism for the Alliance is by gathering Peacebloom and Silverleaf in Elwynn forest just outside of Stormwind.
Continue to gather Peacebloom and Silverleaf until you reach 50 herbalism points which is when you should go back to your Herbalism Trainer to learn Journeyman Herbalism.
Once you have seen the Herbalism Trainer go back to Elwynn forest and continue gathering herbs until you reach 70 herbalism points.

Note: At 15 herbalism skills you can then gather “Earthroot” which is found on hills in Elwynn Forest.

Step 3: Herbalism | 71 – 125

Once you have reached the skill of 70 in herbalism it is strongly recommended to go and visit “Hillsbrad Foothills” where you can progress your herbalism where you will find a lot of Mageroyal and Briathorn to increase your herbalism skills.

Step 4: Herbalism | 126 – 150

Once you have 125 herbalism skill points its time to move to “Stonetalon Mountains” where you can find Bruiseweed, Wild Steelbloom and Briarthorn to increase your skills, try to focus on Bruiseweed and Wild Steelbloom as its they best of the three herbs in the area.

Step 5: Herbalism | 150 - 160

At 150 herbalism points you will need to go see your herbalism trainer to progress any further. Once you have had the training its time to visit the “Southern Barrens
You can collect Kingsblood and Liferoot in the northern part of Southern Barrens.

Step 6: Herbalism | 160 – 200

Once you reach 160 herbalism skill points its time to move to Western Plaguelands where you can find Liferoot and Fadeleaf. Once you reach 165 herbalism points you can then gather everything in the Western Plaguelands area as Khadgar’s whisker will become available and as there are a lot of it in this area you will quickly reach 225 herbalism skills.

Step 7: Herbalism | 200 - 225

The first step is to visit your herbalism trainer to get “Artisan Training” if you have at least 200 herbalism skill points. Once you have Artisan herbalism training travel back to Western Plaguelands and continue to gather herbs until 225.

Step 8: Herbalism | 225 – 275

Travel to Eastern Plaguelands. Collect the herbs in the area until you are at least 275 in herbalism skills. You can collect Khadgar's Whisker until you are able to collect Sungrass in this area at 230.

Step 9: Herbalism 275 – 300

Once you have 275 herbalism skills you must visit your herbalism trainer again for “Master Herbalist” training. It is then advised to travel to the Blasted Lands to continue your herb gathering where you will be able to find Dreamfoil, Gromsblood and Mountain Silversage. You can also find Golden Sandsam at the beach in Blasted lands near Rockpool Village.

Step 10: Herbalism 300 – 350

Hellfire Peninsula

This part is simple, travel to Hellfire Peninsula in Outland and start gathering herbs!
You should be collecting Felweed, Dreaming Glory. Golden Sandsam and Dreamfoil in this area. However if you do get bored of such a long amount of time in Hellfire Peninsula, move on to Zangarmarsh when you reach herbalism skill 325.

Optional: Move to Zangarmarsh at 325

I personally moved to Zangarmarsh when my herbalism reached 325 due to boredom. However I strongly believe that Hellfire Peninsula is more than capable of getting any player in herbalism to 360. The choice is yours.

Dreamfoil, Ragveil, Felweed, Blindweed, Golden Sandsam. Flame Cap and Dreaming Glory can be found in Zangarmarsh
Additional Tip: Bog lords in Zangarmarsh can be gathered for herbalism to collect Zangar Caps.

Step 11: Herbalism 350 – 360

Once you reach 350 in herbalism be sure to go to shattrath city to get your herbalism training. The reason why I say this is because Terokkar Forest is a good place to gather herbs up-to 360. You will find many types of herbs including, Terocone, Felweed etc.
Basically its easier and quicker for you to find a flight path to the next area if you choose to visit Terokkar Forest up-to 360

Step 12: Herbalism 360 – 375

Now you need to travel to Northrend to the Borean Tundra. You should go round this area gathering the following herbs. Goldclover, Fireleaf and Frost Lotus and Tigerlilly. You will also find Deadnettle in the GoldClover herbs.

Step 13: Herbalism 375 – 450

Head to Sholazar Basin in Northrend and continue collecting Goldclover, Tigerlilly. Once you reach 400 you will also be able to collect the Adder’s Tongue that is in the area.

Step 14: Herbalism 450 – 500

Next visit your herbalism trainer to get Illustrious training. From here you need to visit Deepholm where you can gather Cinderbloom.
Once you reach 475 you can then gather Heartblossom. Both Cinderbloom and Heartblossom are found throughout Deepholm and they can bring a tasty profit in the auction house!

Final Step – 15: Herbalism 500 – 525

This step is relatively easy simply flap on over to Uldum where you can then progress your training further by gathering Whiptail which are found around the river banks. These sell very well in the auction house and can often drop Volatile Life which sell easily in the auction house for 20g. But prices will range depending on what server you are on. Whiptail will also occasionally drop Lifegiving seed which can be useful.

Well there you go, this is how I progressed through the herbalism training and best of all it only took me 2 days!

When to meet your herbalism trainer

1. 0 herbalism skill points - When you first start herbalism
2. 50 herbalism skill points – Journeyman herbalist training
3. 150 herbalism skill points – Expert herbalist training
4. 200 herbalism skill points – Artisan herbalist training
5. 275 herbalism skill points – Master herbalist training
6. 350 herbalism skill points – Grand Master Herbalist training

Vicious War Steed

Some lucky players have already been able to get their hands on the reins of the Vicious War Steed. I stumbled upon such a player in Stormwind today, showing off their gracious mount. No matter how many times I see the Vicious War Steed I am always drawn to it to take a better look as the detailing on this mount is epic!
Its basically a horse which has been tacked up to the teeth in armour and also includes its own Alliance flag on the back to show off they are Alliance and proud. The detail of the Vicious War Steed even goes down to a cute ribbon in its tail, which in equine terms means that its not cute… in fact its a kicker and quick vicious!
The vicious war steed can only be obtained through PvP. And can be obtained through:

  • Winning 75 rated battlegrounds
  • Winning 150 rated battlegrounds
  • Winning 300 rated battlegrounds
This vicious war steed mount is not free and costs 10 PvP achievement points. So basically its a PvP mount…

Spotlight Mount: Dark Phoenix

While wandering around Stormwind waiting for my auctions to end I came across a player on a fabulous winged mount. After inspection it came to my attention that it was in fact a Dark Phoenix.
The Dark Phoenix is a flying bird mount which is spectacular to see let alone own one.
The Dark Phoenix is obtainable by using the Reins of the Dark Phoenix which is a reward from completing the Cataclysm raid achievements listed below while in a raid group.

Mount Spotlight: Celestial Steed

I personally love the celestial steed mount in World of Warcraft. I am female and love all things horsey so when I saw it in the blizzard store I was pestering my boyfriend to buy me one. After waiting in the online checkout queue for over 4 hours was I upset with my brand new Celestial Steed mount on the day of release? NO! I was overjoyed!
Course there were a few bugs and the mount originally looked smaller than it should be against my night elf hunter but over the next few months Blizzard worked their magic and the Celestial Steed because beautiful with updated graphics for swimming, and re-scaling so the character didn't dwarf the celestial steed mount.
Even now many months after purchasing the Celestial Steed mount its still my main mount for flying and ground!
If you like special mounts its worth the £17 from Blizzard! Please check out these Celestial Steed pictures and videos that I have made.

Location of new hunter combat pets for patch 4.2 rage of the firelands.

After looking through the recent patch notes to World of Warcraft I understood that Blizzard had released 10 new rare hunter combat pets to the game, however they failed to disclose their locations and although it was in the "rage of the firelands" update - quite frankly they could have added the beasties anywhere.

However after reading through the HotFix patch notes for the 1st of July they note that the pets can be found in the following areas

  • Mount Hyjal
  • Molten Front

Quote from Blizzard patch notes 1st July 2011.

"All of the Hunter-centric rare spawns in Mount Hyjal and Molten Front are now immune to both Distracting Shot and Taunt."

I hope this helps anyone looking for further information on the location of rare hunter pets recently added to the patch 4.2 for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm - Rage of the Firelands patch update.

I have recently re-activated my account to take a look at the new updates and when I find the locations of these rare hunter combat pets I will be posting screenshots and attempt the capture of these curious creatures. :)

Stay tuned and look for my next update here at SimplyWarcraft.com.
