Half Buried Celestial Steed –Twinkles

While exploring the new changes that patch 4.0.3 has brought out I was off out exploring Arathi Highlands and came across an area with a half buried celestial steed known as “Twinkles”.


You can find this at in “Hillsbrad Foothills” at co-ordinates “38.64, 60.06”. I apologise in advance for the area not showing up very well on the map below as there is a bug in the area on the map which does not uncover discovered areas.

Simone the Inconspicuous and Precious NPCs

While out mining in Ungoro Crater I came across two random NPC characters known as Simone the Inconspicuous and her companion pet Precious as shown in the image below. Simone seems at one with nature and appears to express her views on how beautiful the world is around us. I think this one of Blizzards attempts at reminding players that there is a real world outside of World of Warcraft. The second screenshot below shows the location where I found this mysterious NPC character and companion. Enemy MOBS do not seem to attack these characters.

An Unexpected Companion

While I was checking out the loot from the “Fishing bag of treasures” which I aquired by doing today’s daily Outland fishing quest which is given by “Old Man Barlo”. I found a very cute and snappy little companion!



You are given an item called “Snarly’s Bucket” which teaches you to summon this companion.

Another New Achievement: Old Man Barlowned

Today Latura completed all the Outland Fishing Daily Quests which are given by “Old Man Barlo” the final one entailed running off to Stormwind and fishing in the canals until a “Baby Crocolisk” is found. Delightful.

Mayor Quimby

t has come to my attention that there are quite a lot of Simpsons references throughout the game, its not a bad thing as many players watch the Television series and its mutual ground, as I am sure Blizzard claim “Fair Use”, if anything is said because of it.
The latest reference to the game is not related to my character Latura but a Death Knight who I am training up to become an auction monkey, the latest quest for her is:

Shrimpin’ Aint Easy

Today “Old Man Barlo” has decided to give Latura the Explorer a brand new daily outland fishing quest, this one is known as “Shrimpin’ Aint Easy”. As normal the reward of this quest is a “Bag of fishing treasures.”

The basis of this quest is to fish in “Zangarmarsh” lakes to catch “Bloated Barbed Gill Trout” then open them up to get “Giant Freshwater Shrimp”. Sounds easy? Lets find out!

I chose the co-ordinates 74.89, 82.99, which is at “Umbrafen Lake” its quite a good fishing location as its a small island and the MOBS nearby cant actually reach you there.
The MOBS in this area are mainly “Mire Hydra”


Just so you know you don't need to fish in fishing pools to capture “Bloated Barbed Gill Trout, you can fish anywhere in the great lakes of “Zangarmarsh”.

Each Bloated Barbed Gill Trout found contained “Giant Freshwater Shrimp” and “Partially Digested Weeds”.  You hand the quest back into “Old Man Barlo” and in return he gives “Bag of Fishing Treasures”.

On this occasion this “Bag of Fishing Treasures” contained:

• Razor Sharp Fillet Knife
• 6 Gold, 90 Silver, 83 Copper
• 2x Elixir of Water Walking

Latura's Favourite Six Daily Quests

The following quests Latura completes on a daily basis

• Dalaran Cooking Daily (The Cooking Trainer inside Dalaran Alliance Inn)
• Dalaran Fishing Daily (Marcia Chase, Dalaran Fountain)
• 3x The Oracle Dailies (located at Sholazar Basin, Northrend) 
• Old Man Barlo Fishing Daily (located at Terokkar Forest, Outland)

The Dalaran Cooking Daily is being completed because I want to get lots of recipe from the Dalaran Cook, so I can cook the fish which I find and maximum out my cooking skill.)

The Dalaran Fishing Daily with Marcia Chase I do simply because I would very much like the "Jeweled Fishing Pole" which is sometimes given away in her "Fishing bag of treasures" when you complete her quest.

I do the three daily Oracle quests because I would very much like the "Mysterious Unhatched Egg" as you can hatch mounts and companions (if you are lucky)

I have started doing the "Old Man Barlow" daily fishing quest as he also gives a "Fishing bag of treasures" although I don't believe that the fishing pole is a part of that one.

Old Man Barlo's Daily Fishing Quest

Recently Latura has been trying to get a "Jewel Encrusted Fishing Rod" which can be obtained through the "Marcia Chase" fishing daily quest located by the fountain in "Dalaran City". Latura today discovered another daily fishing quest located in Terokkar forest (the same area where Mr. Pinchy is supposed to roam), which is given by a NPC called "Old Man Barlo".

"Old Man Barlo" is located on "Silmyl Lake" and is fishing on the south east shore which is the side of the lake closest to "Shattrath City". On this occasion he gave Latura the quest "Bait Bandits"

"Bait bandits" is a quest where you has to find a "Blackfin Darter" fish, the quest giver "Old Man Barlo" tells you that you wont catch one in the lakes as the fish need fast flowing water so instead fish for this in rivers close to Shattrath City.

Latura found the closest river which was in a MOB area called "Tuurem" however she found a safe spot and after 4 fishing attempts (this does not need to be in Fishing Pools) she caught the elusive "Blackfin Darter".
The co-ordinates for the location for which she found this fish was 53.06 27.93.

Latura returned to "Old Man Barlo" and gave him the "Blackfin Darter" fish. As a reward he gave her a "Bag of fishing treasures". This bag contained three things:

1. Elixir of water walking x2
2. Giant Sharks Tooth
3. 7gold, 38 silver and 29 copper.

Latura was disappointed that she still had not received the elusive "Jewel Encrusted Fishing Rod" but hope was not lost there is always tomorrow!
