Armoury goes free & Lil' Xt Companion a gift from Blizzard

Battle.net Warcraft Armory has gone free

This morning I received an email from Blizzard which had informed me that since in the past I have purchased a month subscription to the WoW armoury remote and now they have made all the features of the Armoury free to use (including auction house buying/selling/collecting gold earnings) they have given me a cute little robot companion.

Past subscribers to the Armoury Remote get a free Lil'Xt

Obviously I was very sceptical at first as there are many scam and phishing wow emails floating about. However I copied the item code that they provided me with. And logged into my Battle.net account (I did not click the link in the email just in case) and to my astonishment the email was not a fake.

I was given the Lil Xt companion and the bonus of the full features of the Armoury being FREE!

Item restoration through Battle.net

We have recently heard through Blizzard's European website that items that you have recently removed or changed on your account can be restored back to how they were, this applies to:

  • Items that have been recently destroyed
  • Items that have been recently disenchanted
  • Items that have been recently sold.
How Blizzard have done this is through a "self-service" section of Battle.net accounts, which I am assuming will save moderators a lot of time, and use their time to help players with real problems, not for acting stupidly.

How often can the "item restoration" form be used?

The item restoration form can be used once every 30 days, this is surely to prevent players from abusing the system if they find a way. And its most likely only available with items that have been sold to vendors (regarding recently sold item restoration) and not applicable to items sold in the Auction house.

What items is "item restoration" not applicable for?

  • Items that have been traded
  • Items that have been used in crafting
  • Items that have been "used" (most likely meaning consumed)

How long does it take to get my item back?

Sold and destroyed items will appear immediately in your account when you complete the "automatic item restoration" form.

If the item has been disenchanted it must be reviewed by Blizzard Customer Support before it is processed, this is most likely so they can also remove any items created during the disenchanting process. When you put a request in for a disenchanted item restoration, your "ticket" is placed in a list for customer support to review and they will deal with it as soon as they can. If there are lots of "disenchanted item tickets" then it will take longer than if the ticket list is shorter. When it has been completed however you will receive an in game message informing it has been accepted/declined, if it has been accepted then you will also receive the restored item in that letter.

How much does it cost?

Nothing - its FREE!

How many items can I restore?

The self-serve item restoration form provided by Blizzard in your Battle.net account can be used once every 30 days however you can restore up-to 50 items on one form submission to Blizzard.

Why is the item i want to restore not showing up in the list?

If an item is not showing in the list then this means you cannot get it back.

I just changed faction - the item i want back isn't in the list!

Additionally if you have just had a faction change, any items recently sold, disenchanted or destroyed will not show up in the list anyway.

I have BETA access to Mists of Pandoria

I have been playing world of warcraft for over 5 years now and have purchased the Annual Pass earlier this year. Today I was happy to find a REAL email from Blizzard saying that I have been given a BETA tester position for their new and upcoming expansion pack "Mists of Pandaria".

I am currently installing the game client which will take quite a long time even with my 10mb Broadband connection as its round about 20 gb in size.

Here are some screenshots:

Beware: Bogus in-game blizzard whispers

I would like to inform that there are a lot of bogus in game whispers from “Blizzard Staff” which want you to go to an external website so they can steal your account.

Never go to any website other than www.wow-europe.com and enter your authenticator and/or login details – chances are your account will be compromised, your gold and all items will be stolen and you will be locked out of your own account that you have paid for.
An example of a bogus whisper is below.
Bogus Blizzard Whisper
This whisper in particular is threatening the player and should always be “Reported” as spam so that Blizzard can take further action against the person making the false claim.
Be safe, be smart, never give out your personal, bank or login information.

How to re-sync your Battle.net Authenticator

I have had problems logging into my World of Warcraft account. Every time I logged in it would say "Login Failed", when I tried to login to either Battle.net or World of Warcraft game.I know that the password and authenticator was correct and so I submitted the account for investigation by the Blizzard team. They got back in touch with me informing that there was not account compromise which was good news.

Additional to this they suggested that what I was experiencing was my Authenticator was out of Sync with my account and so I had to reSync it.
This solved my problem and I was then able to login to my World of Warcraft game and Battle.net account.

So for reference for anyone else who requires to re-sync their authenticator please follow this guide provided by Blizzard.
"Thank you for contacting us. This issue normally occurs when a Authenticator has become out of sync with the server. You may be able to resolve this by pressing the Sync option on the authenticator software.
However, if your phone has been recently updated (e.g. Iphone software update), this will have no effect (please ensure to detatch the authenticator before updating any phone software). In this case please proceed with the below .
If you still cannot access the account after the re-sync, we will need to remove the Authenticator from your account.
In order to remove the token, please provide the following information for account verification:
- Your Battle.net Secret Question and answer
We also require one of the following:
- The serial number of the authenticator
- A legible scan or photo of a piece of government-issued photo identification, such as a passport or driving license matching the first and last name of the registered account owner
Please remember to include the ID as an attachment and not as an image pasted into the main body of the email.
Please remember to also include your account details, especially your account name and email address used for correspondence with us.
As soon as we have received matching information, we should be able to process your request further.
Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

If you dont have a device which supports the Battle.net Authenticator you can purchase an authenticator keyring to help keep your account safe and secure.

Battle.net Down for maintenance

Its always nice to see that the £9.00 a month given by 11,000,000 (£99,000,000 a month) players goes to good use... you would think that they could at least have a back up server for when maintence is being done.

BEWARE: of bogus cataclism beta notifications

Beware of bogus Cataclysm beta notifications. While fishing in the Dalaran Underbelly for the Giant Rat I was whispered and told "Hello Blizzard Entertainment notifies you that your WOW account has been chosen to participate in Cataclysm beta test. For more information please visit: www.wowe-cataclys#####

I have censored the url so that no-one from this site goes to it as it is a fake and an attempt to steal account login details. I reported the SPAM to Blizzard and hopefully they will take further action against the account holder and put the wheels in motion to shut down the malicious website.
If its not from Blizzard and is not on a Blizzard website or listed in your Battle.net account its a fake, don't fall for it.

Later on while heading to Orgramar, another potenial fraudulent whisper was recieved again trying to get myself to go to an external website. NEVER follow any links that are whispered to you, report them as spam otherwise if you do go to the websites chances are your account will be stolen from you and/or items and gold will be lost.

Remember be smart and play safe

Account Theft: Shocking tales of truth.

Yesterday I recieved an email saying that Blizzard suspect that someone else had accessed my World of Warcraft and/or Battle.net account and so as a temporary measure suspended my player account.

I thought that since I had just started using a new ipad application called the Armory provided by Blizzard that it was probably a glitch in thier system not compensating for the use of the application.

I gained control back over my account today and to my shock and horror over 5000 gold had gone missing and ALL my characters items and Epic armour, weapons etc had gone missing from my account.

I was litterally heartbroken... I spent litterally YEARS building up my account and character and some ignorant retarded peice of shit decides to go an ruin it.... I dont know why they chose me... all I have ever tried to do is help people and I even send gold and items to new players just starting up...

What on earth is this world and the world of warcraft coming to? After this incident I am really starting to think that people only do something to help themselves and fuck everyone else. As long as they get what they want in life then nothing else matters.

I contacted Blizzard and they set a GM on the case for me and thankfully all my gold and items were returned through the in game mail system. For that I am thankful. Its good to know that there is at least one other kind person out there in the world who is willing to help someone else in need.

From now on the "World of Warcraft Authenticator" will be used especially when its a free ipad application and if you use it (free of charge) you get an awesome "Core Hound Companion".
