Quote of the Day

While I was in Stormwind City, Blizzard decided they were going to restart the server for updates, this is a great time to look for and come across fantastic and amusing quotes given by players of the game. This one made me laugh

"Spelltastic: they only close wow so the(y) can clean the windows in stormwind, thats all."

Jeweled Fishing Pole Obtained!

Today while completing the Daily Dalaran Fishing Quest which is given by Marcia Chase, I was lucky to recieve the "Jeweled Fishing Pole". I have been hoping to get this great item for many months now and luckily for me I got it today! I am so happy!

Fishing: Enhancements

"Spun TrueSilver Fishing Lure"

While turning in the Daily Outland Fishing Quest provided by "Old Man Barlo" just outside of "Shattarath City" upon opening the "Bag of Fishing Treasures" Latura was awarded with "Spun Truesilver Fishing Line" which is a one time use Soulbound replacement for your fishing line. It also gives +3 fishing skill enhancement which is quite good!

"Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat"

Another good fishing enhancement which you can get through doing Daily fishing quests is the "Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat". I believe that I got mine through the "Daily Dalaran Fishing Quest" provided by "Marcia Chase". As you can see from the images below it increases your fishing skill by 5 and also attaches a lure to your fishing pole and increases fishing by +75. Best of all the lure is infinate and you don't have to buy any more! Im easily impressed but I think its worth the mention!

Mining: What you need to know in plain English

Mining Basics: What you need

The basics of mining are simple, to start mining you need the following:

1. At least one of your main professions as Miner, this can be added to your character by visiting any Mining trainer.
If you already have two primary professions - none of which are mining then you need to unlearn one which you can do from your "Character" profile under "Skills".
2. Mining Pick: this is used to dig up ores for Mining.
3. Smelting: This is a skill known by all Miners and will increase your mining skill. Simply visit a forge and "Smelt" your heart away making your raw ores into bars of metal!

Strand Crawler Companion

I am still recovering from the shock of having my world of warcraft account hacked yesterday, however something very surprising and nice has happend to me today. Today while performing the daily Dalaran fishing quest I was awarded a "Strand Crawler" which is a companion crab! Wonderful!

Account Theft: Shocking tales of truth.

Yesterday I recieved an email saying that Blizzard suspect that someone else had accessed my World of Warcraft and/or Battle.net account and so as a temporary measure suspended my player account.

I thought that since I had just started using a new ipad application called the Armory provided by Blizzard that it was probably a glitch in thier system not compensating for the use of the application.

I gained control back over my account today and to my shock and horror over 5000 gold had gone missing and ALL my characters items and Epic armour, weapons etc had gone missing from my account.

I was litterally heartbroken... I spent litterally YEARS building up my account and character and some ignorant retarded peice of shit decides to go an ruin it.... I dont know why they chose me... all I have ever tried to do is help people and I even send gold and items to new players just starting up...

What on earth is this world and the world of warcraft coming to? After this incident I am really starting to think that people only do something to help themselves and fuck everyone else. As long as they get what they want in life then nothing else matters.

I contacted Blizzard and they set a GM on the case for me and thankfully all my gold and items were returned through the in game mail system. For that I am thankful. Its good to know that there is at least one other kind person out there in the world who is willing to help someone else in need.

From now on the "World of Warcraft Authenticator" will be used especially when its a free ipad application and if you use it (free of charge) you get an awesome "Core Hound Companion".

Mining Guide 126 - 175

126 - 175 Mining Skill Guide

Right now assuming that you have just been to the Mining trainer and are now are an Expert miner, we now need to focus on Iron and Gold ores before we reach Artisan Mining Skill. I personally have found that the "Arathi Highlands" are the best location to find Iron ores. So what you need to do is go to "Arathi Highlands" and follow the map below to find some yummy Iron Ores. Again remember to smelt your ores so you can gain further Mining Skills.

So assuming that you are in "Refuge Pointe" which is located in "Arathi Highlands" you should see the "Forge" as shown in the image below. This is where you can smelt the ores that you find here in "Arathi Highlands".

(this screenshot shows the forge in Refuge Pointe  - click on image to enlarge)

1. Start at Refuge Pointe and follow the guide I have given in a clockwise rotation, you will find mining veins/nodes on the hills so its best to stick to them as close as you can so that your "Find Minerals" will pick them up if there are any available.

2. When you reach hammerfall you should really go inside a mine known as "Drywhisker Gorge" there will be lots of mining nodes/veins in there so its best to check it out. (this is marked as an orange highlight on the map above)

Right the only place to Mine "Lesser Bloodstone Ore" is a hidden mine located due east of Hammerfall. I have mined in this cave many times and each time its entrance eludes me. So for your assistance I have plotted the entrance path up to this mine on the screenshot below.

The co-ordinates of the start of the path is at (79.7, 40.0).
The mine is actually called "Drywhisker Gorge" and the cave entrance is at 82.2, 36.5.
When you start seeing Drywhisker Mobs then you know you are near the mine.

The second screenshot below shows the entrance to the path to the mine... its behind the tree!

(this screenshot shows the location of the start of the path to the mine  - click on image to enlarge)

(this screenshot shows the entrance for the path to the mine)

This mine is the only location to mine"Lesser Bloodstone Ore" and it is only required for one quest on the game so its worth mining to sell in the Auction house as its difficult for lower level alliance players to get.

(This screenshot shows "Lesser Bloodstone Vein"  - click on image to enlarge)

In this mine you will find the following ore veins:

  • Iron Ore
  • Lesser Bloodstone Ore
  • Mithril Ore (but we cannot mine this yet)

3. Exit the mine and follow the path down to where you started by the tree to the path up to the mine. Look at my map again and follow my guide down to "Witherbark Village". You will notice there are a LOT of ogre type mobs here. Directly south of "Witherbark village" is a cave marked in blue on my map. This is full of ogres but you can also gather lots of ores from here too.

4. Once you have been through this cave follow the map again, until you reach the area which I have highlighted in green on the map. This is an ogre mound known as "Boulderfist Hall" you can collect ores from inside the cave but beware of the ogres.

5. Continue on the route which I have marked on the map, to the area highlighted by the black target. This is another ogre intense area which is known as "Boulderfist Outpost". But it still offers a good density of ores if no-one else has been there before you.

6. Follow the map again until you reach "Refuge Point" where you can smelt your ores to gain additional mining skill points.

When you reach 150 Mining Skill Points you will learn a new ability which is Toughness (Rank 2)
When you reach 155 Mining Skill Points you will be able to Mine Gold.
Continue mining and smelting in the "Arathi Highlands" until you have reached 175 mining skill.

Mining Guide 66 - 125

66 - 125 Mining Skill Guide

(Screenshot: Tin Vein - click on image to enlarge)

Right the best area I have found when your mining skill hits 65 is known as Duskwood, ores offered in this area include Copper Ore, and Tin Ore... whichis pretty much what we are after when mining at this level.

I have created the following map as a guide to finding the best density of tin ores which you will need to focus on when leveling up your Mining.

(Click on the image to enlarge: this is my recommended mining route)

  •  Black focus spot: Roland's Doom, an abandoned mine which offers some Ore Veins

(Screenshot: Roland's Doom  - click on image to enlarge)
  • Blue focus spot: A "Nightbane Tainted One" camp which has an Elite in the cave, also a good spot for Mining.
(Screenshot: Nightbane Tainted One Cave  - click on image to enlarge)

  •  Green focus spot: This is the "Vul'Gol Ogre Mound" where there are lots of ogres and ores around their compound.

(Screenshot:Vul'Gol Ogre Mound  - click on image to enlarge)

A note of interest, when you reach 75 Mining Skill points you will get a new ability which is known as Toughness (Rank 1) this will increase your Stamina by 3!

Once your Mining skill reaches 100 you will no longer gain skill points for mining copper however its still worth doing as you sometimes find gems and can sell on the ores/bars.

The best guidance I can give while in this area is to keep mining tin ores and remember to smelt them as smelting will also give you mining points. Keep mining in this area until your mining skills reach 125.

Please note that in the Duskwood area you will also find Gold and Iron Ores, however at this level of mining you will not yet be able to gather them, its frustrating I know but keep your minds focus on the tin ores. You may also come across Silver ores, you will be able to loot these.

In tin mining nodes you will find the following:

  • Tin ore
  • Coarse Stone
  • Lesser Moonstone

Now when you reach 125 Mining Skill visit your Mining Trainer
You will become Expert Miner and can learn "Smelt Iron".

Mining Guide 1 - 65

If you are leveling up your mining skills on the game then its best to know at what points you should go and visit your "Mining Trainer". So I have created a very short list below with all the key points to stop and find a "Mining Trainer" while leveling up your Mining Skill.

Mining Skill 1: You need to see a mining trainer if you wish to start the Mining profession. If you already have two professions then you are required to forget a primary profession from your character profile... under skills.

REMEMBER THAT SMELTING ORES WHICH YOU HAVE ALREADY GATHERED ALSO INCREASES YOUR MINING SKILL.

Mining Copper: When you first start out with the Mining profession you will only be able to Mine Copper Ores, however you will discover that when mining copper you will also be able to find gemstones, and stones which you can sell to jewelcrafters and can bring a good amount of gold when sold via the Auction House.

(Screenshot: Copper Vein  - click on image to enlarge)

You will find the following items while mining Copper in "Elwynn forest".
  • Copper Ore
  • Rough Stone
  • Malachite
  • Shadowgem
(this is my recommended mining route - click on image to enlarge)

I have created the above map, for you to follow around Elwynn Forest to find the densest deposits of Copper Ores. (please click on the image above to enlarge). On the area marked with a blue circle you will find a Mine, where you can enter and find more underground mining nodes and the MOBS there will also drop copper ore. The guide starts and ends at Stormwind gate simply for ease of use and its easy to find as its one of the largest land marks in the game.

Remember "Smelting" of the ores you have gathered will also give you additional "Mining" skill points. Once you reach 65 Mining Skill its time to get the training for "Smelt Bronze" and "Smelt Tin" from your friendly "Mining Trainer" then move onto "Tin Ore", "Incendicite Ore", "Lesser Bloodstone Ore" and "Silver Ore".

When you reach 65 Mining Skill Points get training from your "Mining Trainer" for "Smelt Bronze" and "Smelt Tin".

    Celestial Steed

Latura the explorer is the proud owner of an amazing mount called the "Celestial Steed" it can only be obtained by purchasing it for £17.00 from the Blizzard Store.

Its flight speed will match your current fastest mount, and it will run as fast as your land mount. Shame it does not swim as fast as my Sea Turtle (+60%).

    Kalu'ak Reputation & Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole

    The Kalu'ak

I have recently discovered that a Northrend Walrus Tribe known as the Kalu'ak will give you a very good fishing pole when you are "Revered" with them.

    Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole

This fishing pole is known as the "Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole" and can be purchased for no less than 115g 24s 3c. It also allows your player to breathe underwater and increases fishing skill by 30+. This is sold by "Sairuk" located at "Moa'ki Harbor" (Co-ords: 48.5, 75.6).

Next is how to become Exalted with the "Kalu'ak". My character has done all the quests for the tribe however there are daily Kalu'ak quests now avaliable.

    Kalu'ak Daily Quests

You will find the "Kalu'ak" Daily Quests at the following locations in "Northrend".

    Planning for the Future

This quest is pretty straight forward, all you need to do is go to the nearby Wolvar village and steal some of their "Snowfall Glade Pup", as a hunter its best to draw the mother Wolvar away from the pups and set your pet on her, whilst pre-occupied attacking your pet simply walk up to those little pups, and click on them to steal. You need to get 12 "Snowfall Glade Pups" and take them back to "Trapper Mau'i".

    • Location: Moa'ki Harbor, Dragonblight, Northrend
    • Quest Giver: Trapper Mau'i (Co-ords: 48.3,74.3)
    • Daily Quest: Planning for the Future
    • Reward: 5 Gold

    The way to his heart

This quest is given by "Anuniaq" located in "Kamagua" which is in "Howling Fjord", "Northrend", and involves leading a "Reef Bull" found at the "Twin Shors" which is located to the south east of "Kamagua", to the "reef cows". Before you can do this you are given a fishing net and are told to get some tasty fish which are used to lure the "Reef Bull" to the "Reef Cow".

So here is how to do this quest:

    1. Get the quest from Anuniaq (Co-ords: 24, 58), located in "Kamagua", "Howling Fjord", "Northrend".
    2. Get on your mount and go to "The Isle of Spears" (Co-ords: 28.9, 70.7).

    3. You will need to collect "Tasty Fish" you should be able to see some sparkling fish schools as shown in the screen shot below.

    4. You cannot catch these fish using the "Fishing Pole" you must cast "Anuniaq's Net"  near schools of the "Tasty Reef Fish". Be aware that there are "Great Reef Sharks" and "Orca" in this area which will not hesitate to attack you at any opportunity they can. The below video shows using the net on the school of "Tasty Reef Fish".

    5. Once you have some "Tasty Reef Fish" you can then start to lure the "Reef Bull" towards the "Reef Cow". The below screenshot shows the locations of both "Reef Bulls" and "Reef Cows" to show you where to lead him. (remember you can click on any of my images to view it larger)

    6. I have dragged the "Tasty Reef Fish" into my on screen icons simply for ease of use but you can see how I am luring the "Reef Bull" to the "Reef Cow" in the video below. (please remember to set your Hunters pet to passive otherwise it will attack the reef bull like shown in the video... do not attack the reef bull.

    7. Once you see (Completed) simply go back to "Anuniaq" and turn in your quest.

    •  Location: Kamagua, Howling Fjord, Northrend.
    • Quest Giver: Anuniaq (Co-ords: 24, 58)
    • Daily Quest: The way to his heart
    • Reward: 7 Gold, 40 Silver

    Preparing for the Worst

This is by far the easiest of the "Kalu'ak" daily quests, and simply involves collecting supplies from "Kaskala". There are a few mobs in there but I only ended up fighting one while collecting 8 of the Supplies from Kaskala.

    • Location: Kaskala, Borean Tundra, Northrend.
    • Quest Giver: Utaik (Co-ords; 64, 45)
    • Daily Quest: Preparing for the worst
    • Reward: 5 Gold
And upon completing these three Daily quests for the final time... I am now "Revered" with the "Kalu'ak" and hopefully soon will become "Exalted" so I can get the fishing rod!

      Something new learned every day

While turning in the Daily Dalaran fishing quest to "Marcia Chase" I was whispered by a friendly player informing me that the name of my character "Latura" actually means "Pig Food" in Romanian. I found it somewhat amusing especially when the day before my Hunter's pet is now a Boar!

What a cute little piggy you are...

While on the Dalaran Daily Fishing another Night Elf Hunter started fishing on a nearby iceflow, and the most lovely looking pet was by her side... after enquiring as to where this gorgious piggy was found the reply was "Razorfen Downs" or the other Razorfen instance... I believe its in the Barrens...

After further investigation I discovered this this little piggy is only avaliable in one instance on the game, Razorfen Kraul which is located in the south of the barrens.

I managed to capture myself this little piggy and call it my own.

His name is cyBOARg, here is a great screenshot of him on Dalaran Landing!

This little piggy flew to Dalaran!

      Latura's Dream Mount

I know that I will never get one of these but one can only dream!
You can only get this mount by referring a new player to the game and they pay for 2 months subscription.

      Dangerously Delicious - Terrorfish

Todays Dalaran Daily Fishing Quest is known as "Dangerously Delicious" and entails your character going to "Wintergrasp" the notoriously well known arctic style PvP arena, where any enemy character is open to attack you.

This short video shows Latura fishing and looting terrorfish in the above location.

The quest was handed in to "Marcia Chase" who stands by the "Dalaran Fountain"

The result of this Daily fishing quest was the "Bag of Fishing Treasures" which when opened contained the following items:

      - 7 Gold, 73 Silver, 70 Copper
      - Pygmy Oil x3
      - New Age Painting (which is a trash item but can be sold to the vendor for 25 Gold.

      Travelers Tundra Mammoth

Today Latura was handing in her daily dalaran fishing quest and spotted an unusual mount by the Dalaran fountain. It was a mammoth type mouth with three passengers! After further investigation I discovered this was the "Travelers Tundra Mammoth" which can be bougt from the "Exotic Mount" vendor in Dalaran for no less than 1800 gold! Times like this makes me  want to not spend my pennies!

      • Rhino Meat
      • Borean Leather Scraps

The Maclure Vineyards home of the quick spawning Boars

If you are trying to level up your leatherworking and starting right back at the beginning with good old "Light Leather" then a place of interest is "The Maclure Vineyards" located in "Elwynn Forest" just outside of "Stormwind City".

The centeral co-ordinates for this area is 41.6, 86.8. If you need "Ruined Leather Scraps" or "Light Leather" then this area is ideal for you. Simply because the "Stonetusk Boars" are almost instantly spawnable after they are killed, all you need to do is stand in the same spot and take out those little piggies one by one, then run up to their freshly killed carcases and rip that skin right off them!

Sounds gruesome but thats the game!
      Hope this has helped!

FishPing - Fishing sound over-ride files

If again you are like me and find it difficult to hear the biting sound of a fish on your line in World of Warcraft then this addon is ideal for you. Like the "Gun Silencer" addon mentioned in a prior blog entry yesterday this does not replace the original Blizzard sounds but is more of an over-ride which you can remove at any time you wish.

This addon is known as FishPing and is also avaliable from Curse.com
      http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/fish-ping.aspx

      Developer instructions are as follows:

ping-on-fish-bite. very helpful if you're fishing alone.
      HOW-TO INSTALL:
simply copy the whole "Sound" folder with all his sub-directories and files into your WoW "Data" folder. you should end up with this:

          X:/YourWoWDir/Data/Sound/Spells/FishingBobber_ver2_2.wav
          X:/YourWoWDir/Data/Sound/Spells/FishingBobber_ver2_3.wav

      Sick of loud Gun noises?

If like me you are quite sick and tired of the loud default World of Warcraft gun shot sounds well there is a very quick and simple alternative which I personally use myself as I play the game using iPhone headphones and the sharpness and loudness of any Gun used on WOW is simply horrific for me.

The addon I have found is called "Gun Silencer" which is avaliable for download at Curse.com.
      http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/silencer.aspx

      Addon Description:

There are a few Gun Silencer mods that replace Blizzard's ear deafening default gun sounds, and most of the ones I have found weren't very high quality. So I decided to make my own, with HI-DEF silencer recordings.
Included in this mod is the following:
      - 1 Silenced Gun Shot (M4A1 Carbine)
      - 3 Unique Reload Sounds

      Installation is simple; Extract the .ZIP and copy the extracted files into your World of Warcraft's "DATA" Folder. For example;
      \World of Warcraft\Data\

This mod is client side only, and DOES NOT alter any of Blizzard's sound files. It simply overrides the default sounds and plays the mod's sound files instead. This mod works for guns only, and can be used for other classes as well, as long as you are able to use a gun.
      Enjoy.
